TEROSON RB IX is a solvent free, permanently plastic, self-adhesive sealant (kneading material) based on synthetic rubber. It serves as a good corrosion protection and can be painted with conventional paints based on oil and synthetic resins.
The material exhibits very good water and aging resistance. Due to its tackiness the sealant adheres to most surfaces while they are clean and dry and shows excellent compatibility with a variety of substrates.
APPLICATION AREAS
The unshaped kneading material TEROSON RB IX is used in the manufacture of automobiles, railroad coaches and caravans, in the sheet metal processing and refrigerating equipment industry, as well as for construction purposes, such as sealing of openings with cable breakthroughs and sanitary installations.

DIRECTIONS OF USE
Preliminary Statement:
Prior to use it is necessary to read the Material Safety Data Sheet for information about precautionary measures and safety recommendations. Also, for chemical products exempt from compulsory labeling, the relevant precautions should always be observed.
Pre-Treatment:
The substrates must be clean, dry, oil and grease free.
APPLICATION
TEROSON RB IX is processed manually, by tearing off the amount of material required. The torn off selant is then processed at the place where it is needed, by pressing it manually with a wooden paddle, a spatula or another tool and giving it the desired shape. Due to ist tackiness TEROSON RB IX ensures a correct seal.
To apply TEROSON RB IX from hobbocks extruder spiral-, piston-, gear- or rotary-pumps can be used. Here, the pump and the follower plate, hose and applicator must be heatable. By heating TEROSON RB IX gets plasticized and hence pumpable. Equipment with separate heating circuits and independent control turned out to be favorable, with the lowest temperature at the follower plate and the highest temperature at the application nozzle. The processing temperatures are between 80°C and 160°C, with the optimum range depending on the desired output and other specific requirements. On request, we will provide you with the needed information on suitable application equipment.
The heated application pistol can be used either manually, on a fixed basis, or attached to an automatic application system (robot, CNC). The application nozzle may be designed according to individual requirements.
